Albums
The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and numerous compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old tapes and demos to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked upon an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
